Many have laughed when they read Selangor Chief Minister, Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim's suggestion in leading in water from Tasik Kenyir, Terengganu to Selangor to overcome their water crisis that might occur in 2014.
Khalid said, new pipes would be developed along with gas pipes along Banjaran Titiwangsa which connects Terengganu and Selangor for the matter.
Khalid said, new pipes would be developed along with gas pipes along Banjaran Titiwangsa which connects Terengganu and Selangor for the matter.
But he was informed that water and gas do not carry the same weight, water is a lot heavier than gas. Easy experiment, try pouring carbonated drink into a glass, what is it that gushes up and what stays down? Obviously gas would go up and water would stay down.
Thus, to implement his suggestion, Khalid would have to build a high-pressure water pump to push water from Tasik Kenyir through Banjaran Titiwangsa so that it could get to Selangor.
How much are the cost of all that? Khalid might not know any of that. But one thing for certain, this pump cannot fail or citizens of Selangor might suffer this water crisis, in a rainy season!
Why would Khalid take such hard solution when there are easier ways to get water?
What he needs to do is to continue the water drainage system project from Sungai Pahang to Selangor (Loji Langat 2) what what BN had started a while back, that is it. The project is already halfway and if it was not because of the pressure made by Khalid that caused it to stop, it might have been done a long time ago.
This showed how Khalid really is. Unlike what Pakatan Rakyat's supporters might have thought, Khalid is not as smart in everything. All he's good at is managing estate, not a problematic state.
If we are to look back, since four years ago Khalid kept on making suggestions, but nothing really happened up until today. Let's take the example of one of his suggestion, using mine waters as an alternative source of water for Selangor. Up to today, how many mines are there that could be the source for the alternative that was suggested by him?
That is one thing, another thing is, has he found the way to clean the water that is polluted with heavy metal contamination which is often related with mine works such as Boron etc. How can he ensure that the water is clean enough to be drank?
Not just the mining water is not that safe for Selangor, even their river is not that clean that it was confirmed that it cannot be drank due to the pollution from an uncontrolled industrial waste in the state since Pakatan Rakyat took over.
In short, there are just too many issues when it comes to water in Selangor. Without any swift action, citizens of Selangor would only have two choices, either change their government to BN or face the risk of getting illnesses due to drinking polluted water
